In class, we know some Chinese people always like to say "OK! Let's go out for dinner together some day when you are free! " it's just to make a polite question to finish the conversation, we don't really mean we want to go out. For Taiwanese, the same situation also happened a lot. But for me, nomally when I say some thing like this to my friend, the conversation always goes like this. (Of caurse are close friends of mine)
A: "Hey! Come to my home when you are free, let's play some game together! And remember to bring your PSP!"
B: "Of course OK! How about now?"
A: "Ahhh...I am not f...."
B: "XXX, OK la! I will call you when I arrive!" "CO!"(Sound of hand up)
A: "......"
Actually, when they say the same thing to me, I some times response in this way too.
For teenager, in my opinion this is not a wired thing.
The other thing, one friend of mine though I can recognize his sound. we already have more than 2 years never confirm the id with each other when we got a phone with each other. It's still a very long time though we are very familiar.
It can be annoying when people don't follow our cultural rules of interaction. That's why we need to be aware of different rules of interaction.
